    Blue anole / Anolis gorgonae
Conservation status: CR - Critically Endangered

The Anolis gorgonae, or blue anole, is a species of lizard so elusive and rare that scientists have not even been able to fully estimate its population. It is endemic to the Gorgona National Natural Park located on an island 56 km off the Pacific coast of Colombia.

Its population is dramatically decreasing due to predation by the red-headed basilisk, an introduced species that is threatening several endemic species on the island.
